This year marks an important chapter in the story of historic Olivewood Cemetery. It is the 15-year anniversary of the creation of the Descendants of Olivewood, which was founded in 2003 by Margott Williams and other descendants who were anxious to preserve and protect the cemetery. This year is also the 10-year anniversary of the landmark court case in which the Descendants of Olivewood were granted guardianship of Olivewood Cemetery. Since that time, thousands of volunteer hours have brought the cemetery from being a jungle-like environment to its current open and pleasant state.
Descendants of Olivewood is currently continuing to write the story of Olivewood as it pursues its mission to maintain, preserve, and protect the cemetery, as well as educate the community on the historical and cultural significance of this location. This mission can never be achieved without the help of many dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for dedicated individuals who want to add their mark to the chronicle of Olivewood’s history.
